Inside Sales Representative (ISR)

Responsible for developing relationships and re-estblishing, qualifying and maintaining contact with small and medium sized customers to increase sales of parts and service solutions, and to sell equipment to retail customers at each branch. The position will leverage knowledge of CAT products, allied equipment and industry competitor equipment, as well as relationships developed with peers, senior and executive management across the company to provide solutions to customer needs. This is a professional sales and marketing development position, designed to develop future sales leaders in the organization.


  • Administer Marketing, Advertising and Promotional Programs.
  • Conduct Product, Market and/or Technology Research for Assigned Operational Unit(s).
  • Promote and Coordinate Achievement of Sales and Profit Objective for Assigned Operational Unit(s).
  • Equipment Delivery & After-delivery Follow-up.
  • Provide prompt, courteous contact with customers and/or guests (walk-in, phone, email, etc.) and direct as appropriate.
  • Answer Telephone and Direct Calls to Correct Individuals or Department(s).
  • Assist in the Development of Corporate and/or Sales Presentations.
  • Assist with Special Projects within Assigned Operational Unit(s).
  • Perform Data Entry for Assigned Operational Unit(s).
  • Promote Thompson Machinery, CAT and Allied Product Lines to Customers and Community.
  • Maintain Customer Data for Sales Call Lists, Data Analysis, Surveys and Marketing Projects.
  • Maintain Marketing Account Database (Including, but not limited to coding, demographics, etc.)
  • Assist with Customers when Necessary.
  • Demonstrate strict adherance to all applicable corporate safety standards
  • Develop Sales Proposals and/or Presentations from Customer Inquiries.
  • Document Customer Contacts & Territory Management Strategy.
  • Maintain Adequate Product Knowledge of Equipment & Allied Products.
  • Maintain and Distribute New Accounts Report.
  • Research Equipment, Parts or Allied Products to Meet Specialized Customer Requirements.
  • Respond to Customer Inquiries Regarding Equipment & Allied Products.


  • Business, Marketing, Engineering, Finance Degree Preferred
  • 1-2 Years Prior Experience Preferred
  • Accepts responsibility for mistakes or problems. Maintains "ownership" of assigned tasks. Respects company assets.
  • Must be dependable. Consistently arrives at work on time when scheduled, fully ready to work.
  • Understands and remembers all written and verbal instructions. Carries out instructions accurately.
  • Keeps work area clean and unobstructed throughout the work process. Maintains neat and professional personal appearance, adhering to company dress code.
  • Uses personal and company tools/resources effectively. Demonstrates troubleshooting aptitude by thinking through problems.
  • Must be Available to work any overtime (evenings or weekends) as needed. Adjusts to changes in assigned tasks with ease.
  • Completes reports, documentation, and other paperwork accurately and on time. Performs tasks with highest level of quality.
  • Constantly maintains an awareness of hazards inherent to work.
