JOB PROFILE
The EHS Specialist will assist the Corporate Safety Director in providing EHS support to all levels of the company, promote a positive safety culture, and encourage continuous environmental, health, and safety awareness and improvement.
 
Reporting to the Corporate Safety Director, the position will be based in LaVergne (Nashville), Tennessee. 
 
BASIC REQUIREMENTS
  • Associate degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, Natural Science, or related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. 
  • A minimum of two years of professional safety experience.
  • Training certificates from National Safety Council or similar certifications a plus.
RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Provide EHS support in promoting safety awareness and safe work practices to achieve a safety culture with zero incidents and maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Knowledgeable in EPA, OSHA, MSHA, and DOT regulations
  • Assist in development and implementation of EHS procedures, policies, and guidelines.
  • Conducts inspections and audits, as required to ensure compliance with Company policies and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist in mitigation of identified hazardous conditions and/or unsafe acts with team members and management.
  • Participate in incident investigations and assists with development of corrective actions, and completion of reports as required.
  • Assist with development and review of site work plans and safety plans as requested.
  • Ability to represent Company during regulatory inspections, audits, and meetings.
  • Prepare and maintain EHS and Company reports.
  • Conduct EHS training.
  • Attend operations meetings to review concerns and issues as requested.
  • Respond in timely fashion to emergency response, and other incidents.
  • Provide EHS support at these incidents.
  • Participate in Health & Safety Committee Meetings
  • Requires moderate travel (30 – 40%), including overnight, generally within territory.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

  • Know and follow all Company and customer safety rules, including maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly work area, fully participating in Company accident prevention and safety improvement activities.
  • Must have the physical ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including protective glasses, protective gloves, and protective clothing and footwear as required by the job.

  • Respond to all customer requests in a professional and courteous, timely and responsive manner.
  • Maintain a clean, professional personal appearance at all time, meeting all Company standards for professionalism.
  • Keep the Manager continually apprised to assist in answering customer questions and problems when necessary.

  • Able to work standard five-day schedule, including daily overtime and occasional weekend hours as needed.
  • Meet all eligibility requirements to drive Company vehicles, including a current, valid driver’s license issued by the resident State, and maintain current motor vehicle liability insurance. 
Physical Requirements
  • Pass pre-employment background check, physical exam including drug screen, and meet all physical requirements for the position. 
  • Able to lift up to 20-50 pounds occasionally.
