Heavy Rents Manager
The Heavy Rents Manager will direct and oversee activities and operation of the company’s Heavy Equipment Rental (Heavy Rents) team, across all Thompson Machinery locations.  The position will supervise two Heavy Rents Coordinators located in LaVergne (Nashville) and Memphis, Tennessee, and will be responsible for all performance metrics within the Heavy Rents operation, including utilization, yield, return-to-ready days, unavailable fleet, billing accuracy, and overall customer satisfaction. 
The Heavy Rents Manager will also plan fleet purchases and used equipment rollouts for sale or auction, set rental rates, review and approve any customer discounts, and will approve Rental Purchase Option (RPO) agreements.  Ensures customer damage is repaired and invoiced appropriately.  Confirms Cat Certified Used machines are properly prepared, and that claims are correctly processed.  Will be responsible for creating and annual budget for the Heavy Rents operation.
The Heavy Rents Manager will work closely with and leverage dealership personnel and resources (construction shop, sales, marketing) to achieve the profitability and growth goals of Heavy Rents. 
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience representing industry leading high-value, high-tech construction and earthmoving machinery. 
  • Knowledge of the construction industry and familiarization with area construction, forestry, and paving, customers and processes.
  • Significant prior leadership experience in an equipment or rental dealership Rental Services or Heavy Rents operation
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and strong business acumen.

  • Requires minimal to moderate travel, generally within territory.
  • Know and follow all Company and customer safety rules, including maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly work area, fully participating in Company accident prevention and safety improvement activities.
  • Must have the physical ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including protective glasses, protective gloves, and protective clothing and footwear as required by the job.

  • Meet all eligibility requirements to drive Company vehicles, including a current, valid driver’s license issued by the resident State, and maintain current motor vehicle liability insurance. 
Physical Requirements
  • Pass pre-employment background check, physical exam including drug screen, and meet all physical requirements for the position. 
  • Able to lift up to 20-50 pounds occasionally.
