Machinist – Entry Level
The Entry-Level Machinist position is responsible for learning and applying various machining and metal fabrication techniques in support of heavy equipment repairs and service, as well as providing a broad range of general fabrication and machining services. 
 
Will work closely with journey-level machinists and Service Mentors to learn the operation of machines including drills, lathes, mills, and boring machines, and various cutting tools used in these processes.  Will learn and use machinist specific measurement tools including micrometers; calipers; telescoping, ball, pin, and angle gauges; and dial test indicators for qualify control.  Reads and interprets technical shop manuals, electronic reference materials, and blueprints, sketches, and work drawings. 
 
Ideal candidate will have technical training or be currently in pursuit of education as a machinist, in machine technology, or in similar metal-working trades.  Prior work experience in machining and fabrication shop environments will be beneficial.  Work will be performed primarily in company service shops  
 
BASIC REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.  Training from technical, trades or shop instruction preferred. 
  • Strong Shop Mathematics skills needed.   
  • Able to work standard five-day work schedules, including daily overtime and occasional weekend hours as required. 
  • Must possess a complete set of basic hand tools
  • Must develop functional ability in the use of proprietary (i.e., Caterpillar, etc.) software.
  • Must demonstrate professionalism, integrity, adaptability, and a strong customer service focus.
  • Excellent communication skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Learn to draw, design, and fabricate pieces to build and/or repair components.
  • Learn to perform horizontal and vertical mill operations.
  • Learn to perform various capacity lathe operations.
  • Learn to prepare and set-up machining equipment.
  • Learn to read and interpret prints and drawings for fabrication projects.

  • Know and follow all Company and customer safety rules, including maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly work area, fully participating in Company accident prevention and safety improvement activities.
  • Must have the physical ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including protective glasses, protective gloves, and protective clothing and footwear as required by the job.

  • Maintain a clean, professional personal appearance at all times, meeting all Company standards for professionalism.

  • Meet all eligibility requirements to drive Company vehicles, including a current, valid driver’s license issued by the resident State, and maintain current motor vehicle liability insurance. 
Physical Requirements
  • Pass pre-employment background check, physical exam including drug screen, and meet all physical requirements for the position. 
  • Able to lift to 50-80 pounds occasionally.
