Thompson Hosts “Day In The Woods” Demo Event

A huge crowd of equipment owners attended Thompson’s “Day In The Woods” demo event, held on October 27.  This outdoor event, the first such event hosted by Thompson Machinery, took place on a vast tract of farm and forest land in the rolling hills near Kingston Springs, TN.

“Day In The Woods” was designed to showcase the wide variety of work tool attachments available for Cat machines, and provided the opportunity for customers to try out the machines and attachments for themselves, in real world conditions.  Well over 100 of the total attendees signed up to participate in the demonstrations.

Five demo stations were set up along a 1-1/2 mile loop which wound through farm land and on into hilly forested areas.  A fleet of side-by-side vehicles carried the attendees to each station and back to the event headquarters area.  Machines available for demo included a Cat D3K dozer, Cat 259 D compact track loader, Cat 308E excavator, Cat 289D compact track loader, and Cat 299D compact track loader.  Work tool attachments included a range of Cat brushcutters and mulchers.

Additional machines and attachments, along with one of Thompson’s fully-equipped field service trucks, were on display in the event headquarters area.

All attendees received a $500 voucher toward the purchase or rental of Cat machines or attachments, and were entered in prize drawings for several Cat coolers and other branded merchandise.  Invitees had the chance to pre-register for the event, which made them eligible for the grand prize of a Big Green Egg grill.

Thompson employees manned each demo station and the fleet of UTVs.  Additional Thompson personnel and several Caterpillar corporate representatives were on hand to discuss machine and attachment features and answer customer questions. Lunch for the event was provided by Nashville’s very popular SmoQue Signals BBQ food truck.
