WHAT YOU WILL DO
The Credit & Collections Customer Support Specialist serves as a key member of the Credit & Collections team, with primary responsibility for frontline customer support, timely processing of ticket approval requests, and reviewing credit applications and supporting new customer account setup.
As a frontline point of contact, this role assists customers with account, invoice, payment, and credit-related questions, resolves routine inquiries when possible, and quickly routes more complex matters to the appropriate Credit & Collections team member.
The role also works closely with Sales, Service, Rental, and other internal teams to keep customer transactions moving while ensuring appropriate credit controls are followed. Success in this position requires strong customer service, quick decision-making, critical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to learn and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as a frontline point of contact for incoming customer calls and Credit & Collections inquiries, providing professional and timely assistance.
- Listen to and quickly assess customer needs, resolve routine account, invoice, payment, and credit questions when possible, and route more complex matters to the appropriate team member.
- Review and process ticket approval/release requests in a timely manner, evaluating account status, available credit, past-due balances, and other relevant factors before approving or escalating requests.
- Review credit applications and supporting documentation, including consumer and business credit reports, to support credit decisions and new customer account setup.
- Prepare and set up new customer accounts and credit requests for management review and approval.
- Provide professional, friendly, and timely customer service while managing multiple requests and priorities.
- Support collection activities and customer follow-up as needed.
- Communicate with Sales, Service, Rental, and other departments to resolve credit, billing, and account-related concerns.
- Research unapplied or misapplied payments and work with internal teams to ensure accurate posting.
- Maintain accurate account documentation and notes.
- Follow established credit policies and procedures while exercising sound judgment.
- Identify issues requiring escalation and route them to the appropriate person in a timely manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the Credit & Collections team.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of a high school diploma with four (4) to six (6) years of experience in customer service, credit, collections, accounts receivable, or a related customer-facing role.
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Experience handling customer inquiries by phone and email.
- Experience working in a fast-paced customer service or business environment.
KNOWLEDGE, TECHNICAL SKILL, & ABILITIES
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with professional phone etiquette and a customer-service mindset.
- Strong critical-thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Self-starter with the ability to take initiative, work independently, and make timely decisions.
- Ability to quickly learn, retain, and apply new information, systems, processes, and procedures.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and time-sensitive requests in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to assess customer needs, resolve issues when appropriate, and recognize when escalation is needed.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills with the ability to follow through on open items.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Teams, and other standard Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of credit and collection practices, including applicable bankruptcy and UCC regulations.
