YOUR DREAMS. OUR REALITY.
Stronger Communities video series – Episode 3
“I want to make sure that when the job gets done, the job gets done right.”
From the Beginning
Jose Mendez, owner of JM Landscaping & Grading, has worked in landscaping for most of his life. He began mowing grass when he got out of high school and quickly realized he loved the work. That love for the job has lasted throughout his life, and now he owns his own landscaping business. Beginning with just one machine, Mendez has been able to grow his fleet and now has eight machines running, with hopes to add more in the future. His drive to do the work and passion for creating relationships with customers has helped make their landscaping dreams a reality. Now, with the help of his Cat equipment, Jose can make those dreams come true with ease.
Getting the Job Done Right
“If you want to do the best,” says Mendez, “you have to have the best.” Today at JM Landscaping & Grading, they understand that having good equipment is key to getting a job done right. “I am very happy that I was able to partner with Caterpillar to do what I do today,” says Mendez. Many of their projects start as an empty lot and a large task at hand. A major part of turning a new house into a home is having beautiful landscaping to elevate and complete the look, and with the help of Cat excavators and compact track loaders, they work with that empty lot and take it all the way to the point of being a beautiful house with perfect landscaping.
Taking on a Challenge
Jose Mendez emphasizes the future direction of his company. As they continue to grow and can help more people build their dream landscape, Mendez has a few specific goals to work towards. “I always like a challenge,” he says, and one of the challenges he feels ready to face is taking on bigger projects. He wants to grow the company, add more employees, and add more equipment so they can take on commercial landscaping. “Right now, we work residential, but we would like to work in commercial also.” Ultimately, JM Landscaping & Grading’s biggest goal is to continue to offer their customers quality work as they help turn houses into homes.
