Habitat for Humanity Spring Build

Thompson Machinery is excited to be joining up again with Caterpillar Financial Services Corporation to sponsor Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville’s Spring Build. We invite you to become part of the build team!

The dates for this year’s build are:

March 17, 2018 – 7am to 3pm
BUILD DAY 1: raise wall panels, install exterior blue board, install windows, and install roof trusses and bracing.

April 14, 2018 – 7am to 3pm
BUILD DAY 2: start landscaping, install mirrors, install hardware, install door stops.

The future homeowners for this build are Hana Bishay & Nagwa Hens. Hana has worked as a picker and forklift operator for Tyson Foods since June 2007. “I love working at Tyson,” Hana states. “I plan on staying there for many years to come. I want to grow as the company grows.” Hana and Nagwa are the parents of two children: a 2-year-old-son and 1-year-old daughter. “I want to give my children the opportunities that I did not get,” Hana says. “Hopefully, they will become doctors one day!” Nagwa is a stay-at-home mother who enjoys the responsibility of taking care of the children and their home.

The family currently lives in a two-bedroom apartment in southeast Nashville. They do not feel safe there because of alcohol use on the premises and loud music from neighbors. Hana applied for a traditional mortgage loan but found he couldn’t afford it. A co-worker told him about Habitat for Humanity’s homeownership program and he decided to apply and qualified for the program.

Hana moved to the United States from Egypt seeking religious freedom and economic opportunities. After applying for a lottery visa in 2006, Hana arrived in Nashville in 2007. “I love it here,” Hana says. “The people are friendly and there are many opportunities to work if you want to work hard.” Hana’s cousin introduced him to Nagwa, who was back in Egypt, and in 2014 she joined him. The couple married shortly thereafter.

“We want to thank our sponsors and volunteers for their support in making our dream of homeownership come true,” Hana says. “We appreciate this opportunity and may God bless you all,” Nagwa adds.
