Choose From a Wide Assortment of Drive Train Parts
Thompson Machinery has been an authorized Cat equipment dealer for over 75 years. Our vast experience with Cat products combined with our expansive parts inventory enables us to provide the best drive train parts solution for any equipment model or year.
We carry the most prominent drive train components for Cat machines.
Transmissions
The transmission converts the engine’s power into the precise speed and force required to operate the machine. Caterpillar manufactures two transmission types. One relies on hydraulically engaged planetary clutches, and the other uses hydrostatic or hydraulic drives. Both versions provide varying degrees of torque, ground speed, force and clutch maneuverability.
We also sell individual transmission parts to keep them in peak operating condition. Examples include covers, housing assemblies, clutch plates, gear assemblies, couplings and thrust discs.
Torque Converters
A torque converter enhances the power generated by the engine and transfers it to the transmission. Some Cat equipment models utilize dividers that disperse the torque between the front and rear axles.
All torque converters have three main components, the impeller, stator and turbine, which contain smaller parts you can purchase from our vast inventory. These include bearings, freewheel roller cages and race thrusts.
Differentials
The differential changes the direction of the power produced by the transmission to facilitate the driving of the axles. It also balances the power to meet the demands of each wheel and adjusts the torque to propel the rear wheels.
Thompson Machinery offers the individual parts found in multiple types of differentials, which comprise standard, locking, no-slip and limited spin models. Examples of the components we have available include spiders, pinion gears, differential assemblies, bevel ring gears and bevel pinion gears.
Drive Shafts
A drive shaft connects various drive train components. It transmits power and torque generated by the engine to the wheels at the differential. If the drive shaft fails, it can stop the machine’s progress and possibly bring your project to a standstill.
We carry an assortment of individual drive shafts and other complementary parts to keep these vital mechanisms functioning properly. These components include pistons, wear sleeves, slips, flanges, plates and many others.
