Tax Incentives
Identifying incentives for renewable energy, and then determining how to execute the application process, can be a challenging task. We recommend contacting your Thompson representative to discover all incentive programs. However, don’t be afraid to start the research process on your own!
DSIRE
We recommend starting with DSIRE, the most comprehensive source of information on incentives and policies that support renewables and energy efficiency in the United States. Established in 1995, DSIRE is operated by the N.C. Clean Energy Technology Center at N.C. State University and is funded by the U.S. Department of Energy. Visit the DSIRE Database of State Incentives for Renewables & Efficiency at www.dsireusa.org.
USDA
Another good resource is the USDA Rural Energy for America Program that provides guaranteed loan financing and grant funding to agricultural producers and rural small businesses for renewable energy systems or to make energy efficiency improvements. Visit https://www.rd.usda.gov/ for more information.
IRS
And don’t forget about the IRS… The Internal Revenue Service offers various credits and deductions for renewable energy options. Learn more at https://www.irs.gov/credits-deductions.
