Even oppressive heat and high humidity could not stop visitors from turning out in record numbers for the 2016 Mid South Forestry Equipment Show. This year’s event was held August 26 and 27 at a forested Mississippi State University site just outside Starkville, MS. According to show managers, attendance was over 7,000 people, breaking the previous record of 6,600 from the 2014 show.
Thompson Machinery, along with southern Mississippi Cat dealer Puckett Machinery and Caterpillar Inc., exhibited a wide range of equipment at its expansive site in the woods – machines on display included a Cat 535D skidder, 563C feller buncher, D6K2 dozer, 938M loader, and 299D compact track loader, among others. Additionally, a large selection of Cat-branded merchandise was available for purchase inside our tent, and proved very popular with both children and adults.
A highlight of the event was the Fish Fry prepared and served at our site on Saturday. Show attendees received a complete catfish lunch for a donation which benefited the Log-A-Load for Kids Foundation. The Foundation’s mission is to raise funds to improve children’s health through treatment, education and research at Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals and other local children’s hospitals. We raised over $2,000 to donate to Log-A-Load for Kids!
